    What gets installed

    Single split

One indoor unit, one outdoor unit. The standard choice for a bedroom, a home office or a single room, and the quickest job to complete.

    Multi split

Several indoor units running off one outdoor unit. Better where you want two or three rooms done and only have space for a single condenser, which is common on terraces and flats.

    Ducted and cassette

Concealed in a ceiling void, with only a grille or a slot diffuser on show. Common in offices, shops and larger open-plan spaces, and increasingly in high-end domestic work.

    The survey

A quote given over the phone is a guess. We come out and look at:

    • Where the indoor unit can go, and whether the wall will take it
    • Where the outdoor unit can sit, and how far the pipe run is
    • Whether the electrics will take the load or need a new circuit
    • Whether you are in a conservation area or a listed building, which affects where the condenser is allowed to go
    • Whether you need planning permission. Most domestic installs do not, under permitted development, but there are conditions on size and siting.

    Installation day

Most single splits are a one-day job. Multi splits take two. We use dust sheets, we core-drill rather than hammer through, and we take the packaging with us.

Once it is in we commission the system, run it in both modes, and register the warranty. Then we show you how to use the controller properly, which most installers skip.

    Warranty and F-Gas

Manufacturer warranties on air conditioning are conditional on installation by a qualified engineer and on annual servicing. An install by someone without F-Gas certification voids it. Keep the paperwork we give you, and keep the service records with it.

    Common questions

Most single split installations are a one-day job. A multi-split serving two or three rooms usually takes two days. We confirm the timescale in the written quote.

Most domestic installs are covered by permitted development, subject to conditions on the size and position of the outdoor unit. Conservation areas and listed buildings need more care and sometimes consent, which we check at survey.

Only if it is done by someone without F-Gas certification, or if the system is not serviced annually. We are F-Gas registered and we register the warranty for you on handover.

Often yes, but the outdoor unit position usually needs agreement from the freeholder or managing agent. We will tell you what is possible before you approach them.

We look at the space, the wall, the outdoor unit position and the electrics, then put a written quote in writing. The price is fixed once you agree it.
